My husband grew up riding his motorcycle in the wind. It is almost always blowing out in West Texas. So when we traveled out west and into New Mexico and Arizona, it was not a problem for him. Not so for me. It was crazy. We’d be so leaned over in the wind that when a semi passed us we seemed to shoot straight up and then back down as the wind returned when the truck went by.
I had two choices – I had to lean with Danny into the wind or be completely miserable. Don’t ask how many times I questioned him, “Are you SURE we won’t fall over!?”
Oh beloved, this morning I am thinking about how life is such a crazy ride. One moment you feel sheltered and the wind is down and things are good. And all of a sudden, an unbelievable gale comes out of nowhere. I’ve been there. Some of you are there right now. You are wondering what you will do? When will it stop? How can you avoid it? Is this the way it’s going to always be?
God doesn’t mind if you ask Him questions. How many times I’ve cried out and said “Lord are you sure I’m not going to fall over?” Our Father is so wonderful that He never condemns our questions or gets tired of listening. He always answers – either now or when the winds settle once again.
You may feel you will be falling over or the curve ahead will take you out, but lean beloved. Lean into the truth of God’s Word. Lean into the promises. Lean into the love. Lean into the absolutely perfect will of the One who is with you always. Lean into what you’ve already seen God do. Look back. He took care of you then, He will take care of you now. He relieved your fears then, He will relieve your fears now. He’s not just a God in heaven who looks down with indifference. Greater is He who is in you! The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you! He will quicken your mortal body! He will speak His love and care over you! It’s time to get your eyes off the wind and back in Him!
God loves you and He’s for you. All things will work together for your good. In the meantime, get to know Him better. Spend time with Jesus. God will use you right where you are. Your value is not measured by your adversity. It’s measured by the God who loves you no matter what. Run to Him this morning and thank Him for the adventures of faith and live beloved in the Light of His shelter of love!
2 Corinthians 4: 8-9 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed
Romans 8: 28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. AMP
Romans 8: 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
Romans 8: 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
