Things God Taught Me

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  Isaiah 30: 21

Oh, wouldn’t it be nice to have a cloud to lead us by day or a pillar of fire by night?  Too often we wander off God’s path and go our own way, thinking we know what’s best.

Perhaps current circumstances have thrown you off course.  You feel lost and abandoned.  You’re in transition and facing important decisions.  The last report from the doctor was not good.  Cutbacks at work mean relocating.   Divorce, Defeat, and Deceit are visiting you this summer.  You can’t seem to get back on track since the funeral.

It’s definite; we need a guide!

God does not leave us on our own to figure things out.  He has provided a book of instructions, and He is our expert Guide.

Ps. 119:105 – “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

In Joshua 3:4, we find these words, “since you have never been this way before.” If we are facing something that we have never done before, we are often fearful and overwhelmed.  Confidence should not be based on abilities or accomplishments, but on God’s leadership and His Power.

I discovered that the truths of VBS taught to 1st graders were also applicable to adults.  Let’s know our Guide; let’s follow our Guide; He can be trusted. Continue to focus on our Guide and let’s stay the course. He is faithful and true.

We will continue our journey as we look at the Israelites facing a new set of circumstances with Joshua as their leader.  Did they choose to place their confidence in the Lord God?
