Think and Live Commendable Lives

Some parents don’t set worthy examples for their children to follow and expect them not to live as they do but as told to live. That is not a commendable way for parents to raise children. It isn’t always true, but most children imitate the lifestyle to which they are familiar.

And it is admirable to have commendable thoughts, but those thoughts need to be put into daily living. I remember before becoming a parent, my desire was to be a perfect mother, but when faced with some challenges of motherhood, I was far from a perfect mother. Though God knows none of us will be perfect mothers, He wants us to be the best mother possible.

I am thankful that God does not judge us by our outward appearance, but on what is in our hearts.  1 Samuel 16: 7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Though some appear to consider Mary, mother of Jesus, perfect, she was human and subject to sin as are all humans. It is true she mothered a perfect Son, but He was the divine Son of God and sinless.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, though every one who reads this devotion is guilty of sin, we thank You that through the shed blood of Jesus, when our sins are repented of and by faith confessed to You, they are forgiven. Since Jesus made that possible, we pray and thank You in His name. Amen.
