There is an old saying that the mind is the devil’s playhouse. And he not only wants us to think about evil things but I believe he is the author of discouraging and negative thoughts. When God places on our mind some deed He wants us to perform, Satan will tell us we can’t do what God has told us to perform, and give us all kinds of excuses. Among those excuses might be: I’m not capable; I’m too young, or I’m too old.
In Romans 7: 22-24 “I delight in the law of God in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members… Who will deliver me from this body of death?”
Then Paul thanks God that through Jesus Christ he will have victory. During Paul’s life, he had experienced many hardships and disappointments, but always had found God’s grace to be sufficient as promised.
Heavenly Father, my adversities pale when compared to those of Paul, but during the past few years I have faced many very difficult circumstances, including loss of my house, some severe illnesses, and currently living in an upstairs apartment with many steps to ascend and descend; so I’m currently confined to my room. But I know that You love me and are aware of my situation; so I will trust You for my needs, I thank You and pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
