Thomas Before Jesus

John 20: 24-28  “Now Thomas, one of the Twelve was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, they had seen the Lord.  But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger in His side, I will not believe.”  Eight days later, His disciples were in a room and Thomas was with them. And though the doors were locked, Jesus came, stood among them, and said, “Peace be with you!’ Then Jesus said to Thomas, ” Put your finger here, and see my hands, and place it in my side. Do not doubt, but believe.” Thomas responded, ” My Lord and my God!”  Then Jesus told Thomas he had believed because he had seen proof, but more blessed are those who believe without such visible proof. “

More than two thousand years later, individuals have the Bible written about Jesus, and many accept Him by faith based on truths recorded in God’s written word.

After telling His disciples He would leave them, and evidently sensing their sorrow, He promised to send the Holy Spirit to be their Comforter, Guide, and Counselor.

Prayer thought:  Heavenly Father, thank You in Jesus’ name for sending Him to pay our sin debt, and for the indwelling Holy Spirit. Amen
