The stage is dark and you’re expecting the lights to come on and the curtain to rise. The first act is over and by now you’re on an extended intermission wondering will the second act ever begin. —-Many actors suffer from this anxiety while on stage waiting in the wings.
Has it ever seemed like you were waiting in the wings for the next scene of your life to start? Have you been waiting for things to change? Waiting for something to happen. Waiting for life to get back to normal. Waiting for a good job. Waiting for the right door to open. Waiting for the right relationship or person to come along. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
We don’t like waiting, we want action right away. We want God to come quickly and start the show. But God says, waiting is good for us. That’s how we learn patience. Ultimately, He says we need patience, because patience makes us complete. He explains it very well in:
James 1:4 “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
My friend, are you waiting in the wings of life? The good news is, God has already set the dialogue and stage directions of your life. So as you wait for the next scene to begin, center yourself in Him. And tell Him you are waiting in joyful anticipation of what He is going to do next. Don’t lose focus, and don’t let impatience and the lack of trust stand in the way of receiving His greatest promises.
Hebrews 10:36 “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, you might receive the promise”
