What’s That Shaking You Up?

Just before we went to bed last night, it sounded like someone had jumped heavily on our deck or slammed our car door. We all went to see what the noise was. In about 5 minutes there was another loud boom. Both sounds shook our house. It was talked about on social media and our oldest daughter began texting that they too had heard and felt it. Much concern was spoken about two dams north of us. People everywhere you felt the effects want to know what happened. After waiting to find news until late, we went to bed. We finally had to rest and put our lives in the trust of Someone who never sleeps.

You feel that you are in a situation where trouble is exploding all around you. Things have shaken your world and your personal security. You’ve been fearful and unsure if you will survive. You just want to know what is going on. You can’t rest until you know that you are safe and sound. You’ve been losing sleep over the worries and cares that won’t subside. You’re even hearing more doom and gloom and you wonder where is God? Will He protect you, will He always be here for you?

Oh beloved, run to God’s Word and see! No one who puts their trust in God is ever disappointed! He has promised to care for you so well that you can rest in the middle of all the shaking and violence around you. You’ve been given sweet favor by God to find comfort in the midst of it all. Though your world may be rocking, though the troubles seem insurmountable, though the rumors say be fearful, you are safe and on sturdy standing with Him. He’s not only caring for you, He is working all things out for you. His love and care are a Scepter and Shield. No wonder He calls you beloved, for He cares for His own and that you are!

God loves you and He’s for you. You can rest in His promises and rejoice in His mercies that are new every morning. He will care for you always and give you His peace as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
