Have you ever been there? David was. I love the way he puts his raw emotion into words, in Psalm 22: 1-2 he says “My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me? Why do you remain so distant? Why do you ignore my cries for help? Everyday I call to you, my God but you do not answer. Every night you hear my voice but I find no relief.”
Sometimes when I feel this way I just want to crawl back in bed and ask God for a do over!! However, God never ever leaves me. See what David said in verses 24-25 of chapter 22. The same time he is asking where are you God he says this “For He has not ignored the suffering of the needy. He has not turned and walked away. He has listened to their cries for help. I will praise you among all the people…” You see David knew that God never leaves us even when He is silent. He promises in the old and new Testaments that He will never leave us or forsake us. David also knew that choosing to praise God in the midst of the chaos refocuses our mind and heart back to His faithfulness.
When I tell my sons do this or that and they don’t do it, they are no less my sons. It doesn’t change my love for them. It may cause me to be silent for awhile but never will it change my love or my being for them!!! How like God. We can disobey or make poor decisions but that never changes His love for us or the fact that He has a hope and a future that is good planned for us as promised in Jeremiah 29: 11. What it may do is cause Him to be silent and wait on us to turn around and turn back to Him! I am so thankful that He never moves or walks away!
