First, as a habit we should not add In Jesus’ Name at the close of our prayers. I have been guilty of that and perhaps you have, also. Most of us are creatures of habit and may develop some habits without knowing why. We heard others add in Jesus’ Name at the end of prayers, and after becoming a believer developed the same habit when we prayed.
Jesus said whatever we ask in His Name, He will do it that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Then Jesus added if we ask anything in His Name, He will do it. John 14: 13-14.
Later Jesus said after He leaves them in their sorrow anything they asked of the Father in Jesus’ Name He will do it. John 16: 23
I think of my blessings as being in heaven and each labeled with my name, but I am unworthy to claim them; so for them to be released to me I must obtain them through the merit of Jesus Who made them possible for me. Therefore, after praying to the Father, I am to tell Him I am requesting the answers to my prayers in the Name of Jesus my Savior.
In fact, it is only through the merit of Jesus an individual has the privilege of approaching God’s throne of grace. But since Jesus died to atone for our sins, He serves as the mediator between each believer and God, the Father.
Prayer: Father, what an awesome privilege to be an adopted child of the King, and become Your heir and a joint heirs with Jesus Your Son. May you touch some hearts who read these words to become your children. I pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
