God wants us to know today that even though we want to sleep through it, He is wide awake and always on the throne.
This morning I woke up and thought “wish I could just sleep through it”. Rain again. Today’s rain makes this the longest stretch of consecutive rain days since 1986. I truly just want to sleep through it.
Oh beloved, there are other things we’d like to sleep through aren’t there? The virus situation, family problems, financial woes, uncertain outcomes. All these things make the heart faint and the body tired.
But God wants us to know today that even though we want to sleep through it, He is wide awake and always on the throne. He isn’t discouraged, nor is He concerned like we are. He is the King over all the Earth. There is no ruler in any country that has eminent control of our lives. Nor is there any virus or problem or temptation. Sleeping through it all would just make us miss the greatest glory of the nations – and that is what the Lord does in the midst of our worst.
God also wants you to know that He has put within you His very own Spirit. His Spirit cannot give up, won’t weaken and always has the power to remain steadfast. You aren’t just a weak human being who is waiting for the next troubled ax to fall. Even as your heart fears and you say to yourself can it get any worse? God is saying oh you intrepid and valiant believer! Rise up and bless Me! Rise up and recite My Word! Rise up and live! You may cry but you won’t stay there. You may wonder but you aren’t giving in. You may want to sleep through it all but you are busy interceding and rehearsing the hope of the nations. You are strong and you never give up!
God loves you and He’s for you. Today, right now, this moment. You woke up because your life is in Christ and through Christ there is a plan for you today. Get ready to give hope to another, rest in His promises and walk through the consecutive days of hardship and into the glorious light of the risen and returning Lord!
