Books, especially historical fiction, are one of my favorites. Back when I had lots of free time it was nothing for me to read a book or two a week. This morning one of my favorites comes to mind, Follow The River. It is the story of a 23-year-old pioneer woman who was taken by Indians from her home in 1755. Somehow she managed to escape and walk 1000 miles along the Alleghany River back to her home. She made it, though she faced much peril and hardship. When she arrived home, her hair was totally white.
God speaks to my heart about you…
Oh beloved, you are a woman of great worth. You have unprecedented strength you haven’t even begun to tap yet. While the book and the heroin within its pages are fictional, your life in Christ is no work of fiction. And because you have historical proof of God’s power for those who believe, chronicled within the pages of The Bible, you are in an unprecedented position to make it, no matter how far you have come and regardless of how far you must go. The woman in the book was alone, but you are never alone! Not one moment of your walk of faith is done by your own strength. You are totally surrounded by the overwhelming wisdom, power and love of the Lord.
You don’t have to work up your own strength – that won’t get you anywhere in the Spirit anyway. And you aren’t just living for yourself. You are walking towards a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. You have heavenly insight and you are facing the promises that all things work together for your good and God’s glory. Whether you are walking out the prayers you have for a prodigal or you are walking through sickness, heartache, loss or pain = God is with you! You weren’t born again and left in the wilderness to fend for yourself. And the enemy in the wilds cannot win against you for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world!
God loves you and He’s for you! You will make it. This present season won’t last forever. Keep looking to the Lord, keep speaking the Word of God, keep walking and live in the Light of His overwhelming, supernatural, unprecedented tender loving care.
