As the Rains Come Down

Rain from storms have been falling down recently in Southern California. Some may laugh at those of us who don’t care to be out in the weather or driving in it. I come from the midwest where there is rain and snow and storms all the time. We desperately need the rain here in California, but I have grown to appreciate sunny, dependable days and don’t realize how spoiled I am until faced with weather changes.
Not all days are sunny and dependable and the rains do come down in our lives. How we deal with those rains says a lot about our faith. Do we wish it wasn’t raining? Tuck ourselves back in bed, curl up with a good book, or do we face the storms without fear and laugh in the face of danger and difficulty?
If I’m honest, I am the retreating type. A little rain, may be all it takes to change the peace in my day. However, our great God is always over us, like that faithful umbrella we pull out to protect our hair and clothing from the water. He shelters us from the storms of life. We can find our trust and our hope in Him every day. Sunny weather, or not. He is dependable.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
