I’m pretty sure that winter was created so that spring would be more appreciated. As a child I don’t really remember winter causing much problem. Although I know it was cold, I don’t remember suffering in any way because of the cold. Standing outside waiting for the school bus or playing in the snow: neither of these things bring memories of hardship. I do remember the year that it was snowing so hard the school bus driver didn’t see me standing on the porch. Did we even have snow days back then?
Oh beloved, are you feeling the chill of the season? Maybe you’ve been given a harsh weather report. Perhaps you don’t care whether you see spring or not. It’s time to look to the Lord! He gives the seasons, so you can be assured that He knows what He is doing.
Maybe you think you caused this harsh season of your life. Maybe you did. But God is bigger than that. And His mercies are new every morning, even for you. Regret will make you want to pay for your troubles. But mercy causes you to triumph over it all. Have you heard? The Lord delights in showing mercy! Specifically, to you! He loves you with an everlasting love. Even if you don’t love yourself right now, He still does. Don’t let the chill of the season keep you from rejoicing in His love. You were meant for more!
God loves you and He is for you. Just as the seeds for the next season are already in the farm stores, so too your seeds for the next season are in your hand. Speak life, speak growth, speak warmth. And live with a view to the goodness of God that will carry you through to the warm days of your future!
Acts 10:43 All the prophets testify of Him, that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.
Philippians 3:13-14 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.
Lamentations 3:22-23 The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
