Trust

For thus said the Lord God,
the Holy One of Israel:
By waiting and by calm you shall be saved,
in quiet and in trust shall be your strength.

Isaiah 30:15 NAB

Trust

It is difficult to try and solve things ourselves but we this is what we instinctively try and do. Think of the times when we try to take control, end up getting stressed and overwhelmed. If we had taken a moment to quiet our mind and give it over to God, the outcome would have been different. Experience teaches us again and again how we are not in control. Yet we try to cling on to an illusion of control. Trust is not easy. Personally, I struggle because I have been hurt by people, had my trust betrayed and can remember being acutely hurt by this. But the trust is that trusting God is not like trusting human beings at all. God is faithful to his promises. We see this throughout Scripture. We also have numerous instances in our own lives when God has protected us, cared for us, saved us. So why don’t we go to him more?
