Age Doesn’t Have To Work Against You

We made another one of those quick trips when our local supplier told hubby they couldn’t get paneling anymore. We went to a big store hardware and picked some up. A worker reluctantly said he’d help hubby load the stuff but he’d have to go get his own trailer. As hubby left to go look for one, a older gentleman man said “hey I’ve got this one but go ahead and take it I can just carry the stuff I need.” Hubby thanked him. We laughed together as they compared age and found that he was a couple years older than my hubby.

It struck me when we were headed home that God uses people, who may not be the ones you’d think He would use to help along the way. Courtesy and helpfulness have nothing to do with age.

Oh beloved, age doesn’t work against you if you keep letting God use you. And He loves to use all of His children all the way to heaven. In this world that has become so insensitive to kindness, it’s wonderfully refreshing to lend a helping hand.

God wants you to quit fretting over things like age. Yes you are older than you’ve ever been before. Good! That means God still has plans for you. Maybe you can’t do everything you did 10 years ago. But you can still wake up, take up the shield of faith, arise and build! Building the Kingdom is part of your legacy. Even if you are young, but oh so busy, you have time to walk with God and pray. Nothing is better than having daily conversation with God. Through Christ you have such amazing access that has nothing to do with age. You’re not a victim of time marching on. You are an ambassador of the Last Days and you have spiritual work still within you!

God loves you and He’s for you. Run to Him this morning and thank Him for giving you another day. Ask Him for insight for living. And walk in the faith you have been given, fulfilling your days with the abilities God has given you for such a time as this!

Psalm 92:12-14 But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!”

Proverbs 20:29 The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old.

Philippians 1:6 For I am sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
