Recently the word Birthright came up in church. It was part of a prophetic message, but the word has stuck with me
I think about myself and my parents. My mother’s brothers and sisters all had many of the same features. It was almost uncanny how they favored. My dad had blue eyes like his father and I have blue eyes like him. Now my dad’s father had fiery red hair, but only one out of all the family got that birthright. One redhead in the entire bunch. That’s a little surprising.
Oh beloved, you may have a birthright to be like your parents or grandparents in some way. It is a right, privilege, or possession to which a person is entitled by birth. You may be like me and have a piece of furniture as well – a kitchen table from the 1800’s passed down four generations.
But did you know? It’s time to seek the Word of God to see what your birthright is? In Christ you have birthrights that are amazing. And some of the things that you deal with aren’t in your list of entitled things by new birth.
If it’s in the Word, then it’s your birthright! Don’t let the enemy steal from you anymore. Gifts of the Spirit are your birthright. Fruit of the Spirit are yours as well. Divine favor is your birthright. Eternal life is yours, but so is life and godliness for today and all your days on earth. As you search the Word you will find God’s Rich and Precious promises are your birthright! Walking by faith, wearing His armor (the whole armor of God), speaking the Word, having all your needs supplied, achieving the position of child of the King, and more!
Things that aren’t yours by birthright can be refused. What power we have as believers to be able to say no to what isn’t ours and yes to all that is! Oh, how we complicate life in Christ when we seek to have enough spiritual birthrights for heaven, but not enough for life! IF God and His Word don’t say it belongs to you – then refuse it! You are free to only walk in what God has ordained for you! Where does it say you will live depressed, defeated, discouraged, unfruitful, lives? Where does it say you won’t make it, you can’t live it, or you can’t expect blessings? Think of other things that you have and compare them to the SCRIPTURES. If not there then kick it to the curb!
God loves you and He’s for you. That’s an amazing birthright there! Thank Him for all the Truth in His Word and live freely in the Light of His mercy, grace and abundance every single day!
Galatians 4:1-7 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying ‘Abba! Father!’ So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then an heir.
Ephesians 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called…
