Praising God as Designer

Samuel Finds David to Anoint By James Tissot

I Samuel 16:7 “Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have  rejected him.  Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.” (CSB)

Yes, God’s creativity is displayed in nature. In addition, His creativity is also displayed in each one of us as He designs His plans for us.

Consider the story of David to illustrate how life experiences, giftedness, family, friends, and interests are developed into a purpose-filled life to give  God Glory.  David – poet, musician, shepherd, giant-slayer, and much more!

Samuel would come to the Bethlehem countryside in search of the next king.  After seven sons of Jesse had been rejected by the Lord, Samuel asked the father, “Are these all the sons you have?”

So the youngest son, the one tending the sheep – the one with the beautiful eyes and a healthy, handsome appearance – he was the one anointed.  “And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day forward.”

Later on we discover more about this shepherd boy, “Whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from my father’s flock, I went after it, struck it down, and rescued the lamb from its mouth.  If it reared up against me, I would grab it by its fur, strike it down, and kill it. Your servant has killed lions and bears; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.  The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” (I Sam. 17:34-37)

Just as God used David in His Plans, He has God-size plans for us!

Recognize that we are his workmanship – His Masterpiece – “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Celebrate our creation in Christ – designed for God’s Purpose!!
