As I sit here this morning I look at my desktop wallpaper. I am reminded that it is a photo of what I would like to have. A screen porch with comfy chairs looking out onto a wooded back yard. It’s an idyllic setting to me. It’s not my screen porch but it’s certainly my dream porch.
Oh beloved, what are you waking up to this morning? Unrest and insecurity? Looking for your idyllic setting? Wishing you were elsewhere? Wishing things were different? Wondering what happened to your peace in your own place of beauty?
God speaks this morning to your heart and mine. I AM that I AM. You may not understand the signs of the times, but you can trust in the Lord. He will never allow His own to face any situation without His presence. Does that mean you get to stay in your place of peace? He alone is your place of peace. He is your portion and your sanctuary. He always has been. But now, with all the chaos in the world, you are discovering a depth of His riches you’ve never known before. It will not come from a getaway or a hideout. It comes from dwelling in the secret place of the Most High.
This morning it is time – time to put off the desperation and put on the praises of the King. Say to the Lord “You are my refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I will trust!” It’s also time to put on your prayer shawl – cover yourself in His Spirit and pray! Don’t look at what’s happening, rather listen to His still small voice. He is guiding you how to pray, how to live and how to thrive. You may not see what you want to see right now, but as you focus on Him, you will find new insight and fresh fire for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. Will God change the course of history? He has many times. Will He send you help from His Sanctuary – He always does. You will not only make it through this tumultuous season, you will be so close to Him that even when you go through the fire, there will be One with you and He will sustain you all the way to heaven’s shore!
God loves you and He’s for you. Stop wishing and start interceding. Run to Him this morning and ask Him to use you to set up His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Forgive anyone and everyone and know He won’t lead you into temptation, but into His presence to live move and have your being totally focused on Him!
