Pin the Tail on the Donkey

When I was a child one of my favorite games to play was pin the tail on the donkey. Being blindfolded you would spin around and around until you lost direction of where the donkey chart was located.

Try as you might, without sight and being a little dizzy it was almost impossible to pin the tail on the back end of the donkey (unless you somehow had a sliver of vision somewhere behind the blindfold). I have been known to miss the donkey all together and pin the paper tail on the wall or chair or door facing.

Sometimes we may be blindfolded by sorrow, depression or other storms in life and have lost our balance and our focus. During these times, it becomes increasingly difficult to know we are headed in the right direction. And instead of walking straight ahead, we veer to the right or to the left, or perhaps turn completely around and are headed back to the very place we started.

When those times occur, there is but one place to go and that is to the Lord. Pray and open the Bible.  Read God’s Word and listen to what He tells you. Then be obedient.

Joshua 1: 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

Proverbs 4: 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your grace and mercy for the times we lose our way and walk in our own way instead of yours. I know you forgive us through the blood of Jesus who saved us from our sin. You draw us and convict us of sin and forgive us because you see our past, present and future sin. And in spite of our sin, You Jesus has paid the price and love us still.  In Jesus Name, Amen
